STOCKHOLM, 21 October 2026. Volumental, the leading company in fit technology for retail, today announced a new phase.
The board has appointed Patrik Bråkenhielm as Chief Executive Officer, succeeding founder Alper Aydemir, effective today.
The company sees AI as the biggest opportunity in years to serve retailers and brands. Alper Aydemir, founder and Board Member, now focuses fully on leading Volumental's AI strategy, bringing AI into its products and into the AI tools that increasingly shape how people shop.
Shoppers in more than 60 countries have found the right fit through Volumental, across more than 40 million fitting moments in stores and online. Every fitting moment leaves a precise 3D measurement of the shopper, and that fit data now shapes how leading retailers and brands recommend, stock and design what they sell.
"Patrik has been running Volumental day to day for some time, so this is a planned, gradual handover and customers will see continuity. The board wants Alper's full attention on AI, which is where the next chapter of the company will be written. No one at Volumental is better placed to lead that work," says Fredrik Rönnlund, Chairman of the Board.
"Alper and I have spent the past years working closely with our customers and team, and nothing changes in how we serve them," says Patrik Bråkenhielm, CEO. "What changes is our ambition. We’re building the fit layer of retail: one platform that puts fit data to work across the entire value chain, from design and buying to inventory and the sale itself, with AI helping our customers act on it faster."
"AI will transform the whole economy. Volumental has been AI-first since my co-founders and I started it as a spin-off from computer vision research at the Royal Institute of Technology, and this change lets me give AI my full attention," says Alper Aydemir, founder of Volumental. "Patrik has worked side by side with me and our customers for years, and I am excited to have him as our next CEO. AI is how we build the platform he and our team envision and serve our customers far better in the years ahead. In our internal tests on real shopper outcomes, leading models including Claude Opus 5.5 and GPT-6 Astra picked the wrong shoe size for more than half of shoppers unsure of their size. Volumental fit data improves this by a wide margin, and we want our customers and partners to take full advantage of it. More will follow in the coming months."
